３月１４日/上記掲載写真は六本木デザインサイト２１_２１裏手にある坂倉順三設計の建築の壁である。日本人的な考え方ではこの壁は劣化して来ていると考えるか、風化して時代を感じさせると考えるのか思案に暮れる。現在、トランジット待ちの海外の地にいるとスクラップ＆ビルドという壊しては建て、壊しては建てる日本の建築に対する考え方は生産という視点では極めて有効であるようにみえる。風化即ち劣化と考えることになるが、伊勢神宮などの式年遷宮は文化の継承ではあり技術の伝承でもある。必ずしも劣化を意味しない。木造建築はコンクリート建築と比べて寿命が短いとされるが、未だに木造建築より寿命の長いコンクリート建築はないのではないだろうか。石積み、組積構造はあるとしても。そこで、偶然にも間があいた一日の過ごし方として、風化は果たして劣化だけなのだろうかと考えてみた。それは現在私がいる異国の文化と深く関わりがあるような気がするからだ。短い滞在中にこの国の近代建築を多少ではあるが見て廻った。世界的に紹介されているものも見学した。不思議なのだがこの国の建物は劣化してもあまり修理がされず、風化の一途を辿っているように見える。何十年、いや何千年も時代を経て来たこの国の独特の文化風土がそうさせるのではないかと考える。近代建築は受け入れられたが、近代主義をいき渡らせるにはあまりに歴史的制度の問題がそれを阻んだのだろう。いくつかの近代建築の風化を見るにつけ、主義や主張が根付くには風土、哲学、宗教が大きく係わり、機能性だけでは片付かない時間の観念が浮かび上がってくるような気がする。時を経て物は必ず滅びるのか、滅びる前に新しい物を用意するのか。新しい物を用意するとは生産であり、経済である。現在では「新しい」と人が飛びつくような物を世に知らしめ、既得の物を古いと思わせることに発展している。もっとも最近は機能性だけではないという切り口から語られ実践されている。しかし、それは新しい生産の形態に等しい。訪問先で抱いた印象は、滅んでいく物が新旧混沌として存在しているが、そのどれもが劣化していくことを拒否していないと感じた。しかし、日本にある風化を楽しむ文化ではなく、悠久の歴史の中で永遠という無限に続く時間に対峙する瞬間の仮設物にしか見えなかった。建築でさえも、滅びる物でありその死を受け入れるとでも言いたげな佇まいだった。前述の記念碑的建築物は風化を保護されて幸せに存在して行くのだろうけれども、決してオリジンではなく外来文化の学習成果に過ぎない。オリジンは訪問先の国で朽ち果てて行くのを待つのみ、森羅万象、世は無常である。
March 14 /The publication photograph mentioned above is a wall of the buildings of the Junzo Sakakura design at the back shight of Roppongi Design Site 21_21.Do you think that this wall deteriorates by the Japanese way of thinking?Do you think that you let it weathers and feel the times?I am in thought when I am in the foreign countries awaiting transit now.After having broken it, be built, and disturb it after having built it.The way of thinking “scrap & build” for the building,I see it in the viewpoint of the production extremely effectively.I will regard it as weathering namely deterioration, but year of anniversary removal of a shrine such as Ise-jingu Grand Shrine is the succession of the culture, but are technical tradition.It is said that the wooden building has a shorter life than concrete architecture, but there may not be yet the concrete building having a long life than a wooden building.Even if there are piling-stones, masonry construction.Therefore as one-day how to spend that I had free interval accidentally.I thought that the weathering would be really only deterioration.It is because I feel like having a deep relationship with the foreign culture that I am now.I went around to see only some modern architecture of this country during a short stay.I observed the architectures introduced worldwide.It is mysterious, but seems to tread the only way of the weathering without repair being done too much even if the building deteriorates in this country.I think that the unique culture climate of this country which passed through the times for several thousand years may let you do so it because not for dozens of years.The modern architecture was received, but a too institutional problem would block it to let Modernism spread out.Climate, philosophy, religion are greatly concerned when I watch weathering of some modern architecture so that principles and a claim root, and an idea at time not to be cleared up only with functionality feels like rising.The thing will fall by all means while it had been passing through time.Do you prepare a new thing before falling?It is production to prepare a new thing and it is just economy.In the present age, the New that an advertisement informs quality indicating the interest in the life, and it develops into letting you think a thing of the existing profit to be old.Recently it is talked by the cut end not to be only functionality, and it is practiced.However, it is equal to a form of new production.As for the impression that I had in a visit, the thing which died out existed as the old and the new chaos, but felt it when nothing refused that eveything deteriorated.However, it is not culture to enjoy weathering like Japanese, visible only to a temporary construction thing to confront each other in a concept called the eternity in the eternal history.When even a building was the thing which fell and accepted the death, it was the appearance that seemed to want to say.Though weathering is protected as for the building of above-mentioned Junzo Sakakura and will exist happily,but it is just learning result of the outpatient department culture, it is not origin at all.The origin waits to rot away in the country of my visiting, and all things in nature, the world are transience.
