１２月２１日/「ラスト・ワルツ」は１９７６年に開催されたザ・バンドの解散コンサートのタイトルです。メンバーには、あまり良く言われていないリーダーのロビー・ロバートソンですが、ボーカル、ドラマーのリボン・ヘルムのコンサートはN.Y.C.のレストランで行われ、目と鼻の先、真っ正面で聞きました。食事をしながらです。最高でした。その約２年前に解散コンサートはマーティン・スコセッシにより映画化されており、東京で観ました。映画をご覧になればお分かりなのですが、ボブ・ディランやエリック・クラプトン、ニール・ヤング、マディ・ウォーターズ、ロニー・ホーキンズ、ドクター・ジョン、ジョニ・ミッチェル、ニール・ダイアモンド、ヴァン・モリソン、ロン・ウッド、リンゴ・スターなどなど、そのなかでもドクター・ジョンが渋くて、ボブ・ディランが格好よかったですね。話は変わりますが、最近のサンタナのアルバムやジェフ・ベックのアルバム、そしてふと聞いたデヴィッド・ボウイの「チャイナ・ガール」に出てくるギターソロのフレーズのメロディー・ラインが良く似ているのです。何故なのか教えて頂ける方は居ませんでしょうか。このところ古い話ばかりで恐縮なのですが、吉祥寺に住んでいた頃のことです。大学生だったのですが、日曜日によく２本立て映画館に行きました。ロードショーは高いという感覚と２、３年落ちみたいな映画に掘り出し物があったからです。そのなかに「ミッドナイト・エクスプレス」という映画があります。もう一本の方が目当てであったのですが、忘れてしまいました。この映画は見終わった後、何とも言えない複雑さと安堵感の入り交じったアメリカ的な正義感が身体を駆け巡っていました。後年、イスタンブールにポスターの撮影に行ったときは自分も同じ目にあったらどうしようなどと埒もないことを考えました。読み込み済みというか、その旅の最後には嫌な思いを致しました。そんなことを思い出していたら、今年亡くなったN君のことを思い出しました。たしか「ミッドナイト・エクスプレス」は彼と一緒に行ったのだと思います。また、その映画館で出くわした同級生のY君のことも思い出しました。実は大分昔のことですが、彼も突然に亡くなりました。何だか昨日のことのように思い出しますが、彼等の分も楽しみたいと思い最近は寒くてもオープンカーなのです。話は変わりますが、上記写真はやっと手に入れた本棚です。スウェーデン製です。「ストリングス」とタイトルがついていました。ものはコンパクトですが、気に入っています。もっと大きいサイズでガッチリした２、３連のものもあり、デザイン的には良いのですが、そちらは売り切れていました。残念。次回展からはここにTOTODOさんの本が入ります。あっそうだ、totodoさんに予約した本を取りに行かなければなりません。いま、思い出しました。今年中にはきっと伺います。
December 21 /”The Last Waltz” is a title of the dissolution concert of The Band in 1976.It was Robbie Robertson of the leader who was not spoken well of other members very much, but a vocal, the concert of Levon Helm of the drummer were performed at a restaurant in N.Y.C. and I heard it in a stone’s cast, right in the front.I had been staying there while I made a dinner.For me, it was time of the supreme bliss.The dissolution concert had been filmized about two years ago by Martin Scorsese at that time and I watched it in Tokyo.It was comprehension if it looked at a movie, because Bob Dylan and Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Lonny Hawkins, Doctor John, Joni Mitchell, Neil Diamond, Van Morrison, Ron Wood, Ringo Starr etc,etc, it was stingy with doctor John in that, and Bob Dylan was cool.Changing the subject, the melody line of the phrase of guitar solo coming out to “China girl” of David Bowie, album of recent Santana and album of Jeff Beck that I heard it incidentally resembles closely.I wonder if there is the person having you teach why they are.It is ashamed by only a old story recently, but it is the time when I lived in Kichijoji.I was a university student, and I used to go to the double feature movie theater well on Sunday.With a sense to be expensive in the special first-run showing and the reason why there is a lucky find encountered a movie such as the omission for two or three years.There is a movie called “the midnight express” in that.I wanted another one of them, but had forgotten it.After this movie has finished, sense of justice of U.S.A. which mingled of complexity and the sense of relief that nobody knows, it ran through my body.When I went to Istanbul for the photography of the poster later that it will work as oneself how if I encounter the same case so that I thought a thing without the vague.Anyway, we have been what was finished with scanning, however we felt the unpleasant feeling at last of the trip as according to the advice from Turkey embassy staff living in Tokyo.I remembered late my close friend Nishiyama in this year when I thought about such a thing.I think the definite “midnight express” to go there with him.In addition, I remembered the thing of my close friend Yui of the classmate who happened to meet in the movie theater.In fact, it was old days, but he died suddenly considerably, too.Well I can remember it like the yesterday’s thing, and I want to enjoy their share, and it is a convertible even if cold weather recently.Please make me change the subject, the photograph mentioned above is the bookshelf which I obtained at last.It is made in Sweden.A title called “strings” was on.The thing is compact, but I really like it.There is the solidly built thing of two or three at bigger size, that is good for a design, but that was sold out.I was disappointed.A book of TOTODO becomes available from a next exhibition here.Well oh it was remind me, I have to go for the book which I subscribed for, totodo.I am just remembering it well now.I surely visit until the end of this year.
